About My Clients

Kate works with children and adolescents. They have particular expertise in working with clients from the LGBTQIA+ community (3+ years professional experience) and with neurodivergent individuals (4+ years professional experience). Kate has worked with people experiencing depression, anxiety, emotional and sensory regulation difficulties, and various traumas, with a particular interest in serving those navigating autism and/or ADHD diagnoses.

My Background and Approach

Kate believes that engaging the mind and body in imaginative ways can provide multiple possible avenues to healing and growth. As such, her approach to therapy can include not only traditional talk therapy techniques but also creative elements such as role-play, improvisation, movement, dance, and art. Kate loves to laugh and believes that a sense of fun and therapy are not mutually exclusive. In their heart, Kate believes that engaging in playfulness allows an individual to connect with their innermost self. After all, healing happens not only in sitting with the uncomfortable, but in celebrating the joyful, as well. Kate engages in neurodiversity-affirming care and will not use applied behavioral techniques (ABA) with neurodivergent individuals. In addition to her creative and affirming perspective, Kate approaches therapy from a person-centered and existential lens and has experience utilizing mindfulness and DBT skills.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a therapist, Kate believes that the therapeutic alliance is of the utmost importance and works hard to embrace and understand the full spectrum of identities and experiences that each client holds. She believes that every client is capable of achieving their goals within the safety of an honest and caring relationship. If clients permit, Kate appreciates partnering with the client's family and school system for more holistic healing.
