About My Clients
Do you have difficulty focusing? Difficulty completing tasks at work? Do you sometimes feel like people don't like you? Perhaps you feel down or even nervous. If this is you or even a child you care for, I can help. I work with many neurodivergent individuals and families to help them learn to lead a more productive life based on the needs of their brains.
My Background and Approach
I have a caring and compassionate approach. We will work together to identify what would best benefit you which will guide treatment. I have extensive education and experience providing behavioral health services to children with ADHD and their families in addition to adults with ADHD. Or as some people would prefer, ADHDers. I often encourage clients to explore their emotional experiences because research has shown that ADHD impacts emotions. I tend to rely on solution-focused psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. For youth and the young at heart, I use creative and playful techniques to engage them. One of my favorite games to play is UNO. At discharge, I work with you to develop a maintenance plan so you can continue feeling better.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work from a person-in-environment perspective. That means I believe that your environment has an impact on how you present in session. For instance, if you may have difficulty coping with symptoms because you are experiencing discrimination. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly and educate myself on treating that population. I do my best to advocate for LGBTQIA+ through attending local town hall meetings. I also still believe in Black Lives Matter and advocate against police brutality. Finally, I advocate for women's reproductive health. Currently, I am working with the local National Associate of Social Workers on these matters. I truly believe that therapy can help people cope through life's stressors. I want you to be the person you want to be.
