About My Clients
We see clients for individual therapy and in groups at all ages and all stages: kids, teens, adults, couples, and families. We specialize in anxiety, life transitions, sadness and depression, and trauma/grief/loss, among other challenges. We use Western psychotherapy, mindful awareness practice, and the great wisdom and healing traditions to harness the power of the mind-body connection to help our clients feel happier, make lasting change, and grow the foundations of well-being in their lives.
My Background and Approach
The therapists that make up the Center for Family Well-Being are all highly trained; as the director, I have a MA in Sociology from George Mason University, an MSW from the Smith College of Social Work; and have been in practice for more than 20 years, The therapists at the Center use a variety of approaches for the optimal well-being of our clients, including: meditation and mindfulness; yoga and movement; talk therapies such as cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic; art and expressive therapies such as play and sand-tray; and brain-based therapies such as Brainspotting and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). The benefits of combining Western psychotherapy with mindful awareness practices are clear: reduced anxiety; increased focus and attention; happier relationships; and greater calm, productivity, creativity, and well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I see my work with kids, teens, young adults, and families as a partnership, and each therapeutic method I offer is a doorway -- an opening for greater awareness, connection, and well-being within ourselves and with others around us. As a student of Kashmir Shavism and Tibetan Buddhism, I believe in the liberation and freedom of all beings. I identify as a feminist, and am committed to racial and gender equality.
