Hi! My name is Kate Gebbie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I own a private practice that provides telehealth to parents.

Humans are hardwired for connection. When our connections are broken down, it becomes increasingly difficult to deal with stressors in our lives. Likewise, stressors can break down connections with others and may do so without us even realizing it. I aim to work with relational issues to increase connection and help you to reduce things you are dealing with.
Psychodynamic work refers to looking into the past to understand our present behavior. Our experiences shape who we are, and therefore we develop patterns of behavior to reflect what we have experienced. I will help you to explore this further and make shifts where you feel you would like to see change.
I have a strong background in trauma work due to my experience with significant trauma for the last 10 years. Additionally, I was a trainer for the Risking Connections framework, which is a relational/connection-based framework that helps us understand how trauma impacts our lives biologically, emotionally, physically, and behaviorally. I utilize these concepts in therapy to help others understand how their trauma has impacted and continues to impact them.
Before I opened my practice, I worked in an area of CT in which trauma was extremely pervasive in the community. I had many clients who experienced significant abuse in childhood and relationships, who had witnessed or been a part of extreme violence, and were experiencing their own trauma of having children removed from their care. I am comfortable working with many different types of trauma and will help you to find relief through connection and relationship.
As a parent and as a treater of parents for many years, I focus on helping parents understand their parenting styles, manage their own stress, and provide ways for parents to connect differently with their children. Because I am a psychodynamic-oriented therapist, I often use the experiences that parents had growing up to help them identify patterns of their own behavior in the present day. I have a background in MDFT and IICAPS (CT model) which has guided my intervention practice with parents.
As a treater who has been trained by Postpartum Support International (and as a parent of two), I have a lot of knowledge around conditions surrounding pregnancy. In particular for those struggling to adjust to having a new baby, I work with moms and dads on establishing supportive connection with each other and others in order to combat the struggles you may be experiencing. I also utilize CBT techniques to challenge thought processes that may occur in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
