About My Clients
I work best with LGBTQIA2S+ clients, loved ones of LGBTQIA2S+ folks, and folks who have been through trauma. I have experience and training in the treatment of various traumatic experiences, such as childhood neglect and abuse, attachment trauma, and sexual violence. Trauma can deeply impact how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us, especially when it occurs within the context of collective trauma, grief and systemic oppression.
My Background and Approach
My approach is grounded in attachment, relational healing, and liberation psychology. I bring warmth and compassion to the therapeutic relationship, creating a foundation of safety and unconditional support. I understand that healing is not linear and looks different for each person. Together, we will identify goals and collaborate on strategies, skills, and insights drawn from a range of therapeutic modalities, tailored to your unique needs and strengths. My specialized training includes TF-CBT, CBT, EFT, CPT, and parts work. I also integrate body-based approaches, recognizing that healing the body is just as vital as healing the mind. I work from a decolonial framework with all clients, acknowledging and addressing the impacts of systemic oppression and racism on mental health, particularly within LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I think it is important to be authentic and genuine in who you are, and to learn how to celebrate yourself. I also believe that healing from trauma is a lifelong endeavor that can evolve as we walk through the different seasons of life. I believe in utilizing my privilege to advocate for people within my communities that are oppressed, and marginalized. I believe trans rights are human rights. I believe gender affirming care IS healthcare. I believe that oppressive systems have a profound impact on the collective and individual health of others. I recognize that in some ways, the mental health industry has contributed to this harm, and I believe that it is current providers' duty to do better. Healing comes from different places, like our communities, our friends & families, and our daily practices. And I believe that working alongside folks who have the courage to heal from trauma, and have the courage to explore who they are is an incredible privilege.
