About My Clients
I primarily work with children and adolescents ages 3-17 who have experienced trauma, foster and adoption concerns, attachment disruption, adjustment concerns, and anxiety & depression. I also work with parents to teach skills that can help with progress at home.
My Background and Approach
I graduated with my master's in counseling at UNC Charlotte in August of 2021. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) through the state of NC. I am also working towards obtaining my registered play therapist (RPT) license. Though I am grounded in the person-centered perspective, I take an integrative approach in that I will work with you to figure out what type of counseling approach is most conducive to the changes you are wanting to see. I specialize in play therapy, but I may incorporate CBT, DBT, expressive arts, and child-parent relationship training in our work together. As part of my individual work with your child, I think it is vital to include parents in the therapy process and will provide support and teach you skills to help you to communicate effectively, manage behaviors, and ultimately cherish your relationship with your child.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am LGBTQ+ friendly and enjoy working with clients who are part of that community! I am very passionate about working with foster and adoptive families and am hoping to become a TAC (Training for Adoption Competency) certified counselor in the near future. I love Harry Potter, video games, reading, and spending time with my pets! I have a PS5 and Nintendo Switch and will often bring my Switch into sessions to play games (if the parents are okay with this, of course). My clients are often disappointed that I don't know more about Minecraft or Fortnite, but I am certainly open to learning.
