About My Clients
Are you dealing with marital conflict or family estrangement? Grieving the loss of a loved one, such as a spouse or parent? Or struggling with past unresolved trauma or church hurt? These are all significant challenges and sometimes we need help navigating them in an emotionally safe and supportive environment. I help clients with relationship issues, grief or loss, and trauma. With my theological training, I can also help clients with religious issues, including painful experiences from church.
My Background and Approach
I believe counseling should be a place where you can be your truly authentic self and share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with validation and compassion. I also believe counseling should be both encouraging and challenging in ways that lead to lasting healing, change, and growth. You can get out of counseling what you put into it if you are willing to put in the time, consistency, and effort to reach your specific goals in therapy. Whether you are needing help with your marriage, setting boundaries with harmful family members, shedding tears for the loss of a loved one, or healing from a painful or traumatic past experience, I strive to approach therapy holistically by taking into consideration all aspects of your health and wellbeing. I primarily use a combination of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Although my personal beliefs and values are deeply rooted in my Christian faith, I believe it is important for you to know that you do NOT have to be a Christian or hold any particular belief system if you are interested in beginning counseling with me. While I do offer faith-based counseling to whatever degree you feel comfortable, rest assured that I will strive to understand and respect your particular religious/spiritual beliefs, ethnic/cultural backgrounds, and personal values. I am also passionate about working with those who have experienced church hurt or religious abuse and trauma and are wanting to recover a nurturing, thriving spiritual life and relationship with God. Whether or not you are a Christian (including Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant), I consider it an honor and a privilege to be a part of every client's unique journey of healing, change, and growth and invite you to reach out if you would like to begin that process with me today.
