About My Clients
Do thoughts and patterns of behaviors have you feeling stuck? Are your responding to life out of fear and feeling misaligned with your values? My clients often come to me for support describing these thoughts and feelings. Sometimes, you need external support to guide you through feeling overwhelmed and dysregulated to access the strengths you already possess. My clients have described me as the voice in their head encouraging them to use learned coping skills.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in treating children and families. I have experience working in residential facilities, special education schools, and private practice settings. Through my experience I have gained knowledge in treating diverse populations and a range of mental health conditions. I have a special focus in treating adults with anxiety, chronic illness, or going through a life transition (i.e. career change, ending/starting a relationship, grief and loss, having a child or parenting challenges, etc.) I have training in financial social work and exposure and response prevention therapy. I take a client-centered approach and use concepts from several modalities including CBT, DBT, mindfulness/meditation, and motivational interviewing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the concepts of if you think you can, you can and trying to find the silver lining in any life experience. I also believe people need to feel validated for their pain and struggles as life can be really hard. I also think you are the expert on your life and I am here to guide you in gaining insight into that expertise and identifying the tools that best help you as individual. I am accepting of clients with diverse backgrounds in the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities and individuals in non-traditional relationships.
