About My Clients
Perhaps you are newly out of a relationship, want to be in a relationship but aren’t, feel like you’ve lost yourself in your current relationship, or are tired of always being “the strong one” for people in your life and being quick to help others but slow to ask for help. You might be successful and seem like you have it all together but feel like something is missing or that a past trauma or relational loss is holding you back. Together, we can connect back to you and journey forward.
My Background and Approach
My clients often describe me as warm, easy to talk to, down-to-earth, and someone they can both laugh and cry with. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, which means I view each person through a systems lens and how they are impacted by their closest relationships and various communities. I strive to practice in a holistic manner that is trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive, that takes the whole person into account. I believe that we often repeat patterns in our relationships, and help my clients recognize these patterns and explore how to live with authenticity and balance, both in relationship to themselves and to others. I utilize EMDR therapy for adults who have experienced trauma or who have deeply embedded negative beliefs about themselves or the world. I use Restoration Therapy with couples to help them identify their pain cycles and how to communicate vulnerably in moments of discord. I also commonly work with therapists and other healers.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe it is imperative both personally and professionally to honor the whole person — their family and community cultures, race, ethnicity, spirituality, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and other important aspects of their identity. I am in a cross-cultural marriage and benefit vastly from learning about how my husband and other close friends from different backgrounds view and experience the world. I have spent the last decade striving to learn more about privilege, systemic oppression, and racism and how to be actively anti-racist. I was raised Christian and while I still identify with my faith, I am frustrated with many American evangelical churches and the themes that have crept into beliefs that directly contradict who Jesus was. He stayed close to those on the margins and so I will as well. I believe that immigrants, those experiencing racism, the LGBTQ community, and all the unique challenges these groups experience are close to God’s heart.
