My Background and Approach

Karena is a skillful and heartfelt facilitator, presenter, and psychotherapist. She has worked at the intersection of social justice and mental wellness for nearly 20 years and has trained hundreds of community members in the philosophy, practices, and principles of Restorative Justice and Circle-Keeping. Karena holds that well-being is integral to achieving personal and community safety and her life-work centers the experiences of those directly impacted by interpersonal and state violence. Karena has worked closely with survivors and those who are responsible for causing harm and believes in community responses to violence.

I bring nearly 20 years of experience & a strong social justice frame and racial justice analysis to my work with individuals & couples, adolescents & adults, and am experienced with complex trauma, life transitions, and family dynamics / parenting. I have long-worked with survivors and those responsible for causing harm and emphasize an environment of safety and collaboration with my clients.
