My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that experiencing childhood grief from losing a parent has profoundly affected me. Between the ages of 14 and 25, I lost my father and most of my family. I struggled with feelings of isolation, anxiety, and overwhelm throughout my teenage and college years. I believed no one could understand what I had experienced and how I was feeling, which led to my continued suffering. Through therapy and insights from professionals, I gained the tools to cope with my unique circumstances. I grew through my grief while earning my Master's Degrees in Counseling Psychology, focusing on Grief and Loss. I was motivated to share my knowledge and experience with others, leading me to establish my own private practice and wellness center that also incorporated dance movement and art therapy. Over the past 12 years, I've proudly added Founder and Exec. Dir. of Emma's Place, Staten Island's Grief Center for Children, the only children's grief counseling and educational program in our community.
