About My Clients

I work primarily with adults, couples, and professionals in managing a wide range of mental health issues and challenges, such as Anxiety, Depression, Life Transitions, Intimacy, Communication problems, Learning differences, Self-esteem, Health issues, Grief & Loss, Professional/Work Matters, and Family & Relationship Stress and Estrangements. We work together toward your goals in learning new ways of managing stress, anxiety, and depression to heal, grow, & experience joy in a safe setting.

My Background and Approach

I have 20 years of experience working in mental health and wellness programs as a dance movement therapist, psychological intern, psychological assistant, and counselor. My approach is multi-modal and evidence-based, which is to say that I use various tested treatment traditions and philosophies to support my client's goals. Using evidence and an informed perspective, I consider good, reliable research on the efficaciousness of treatment approaches. I utilize the following: 1. Symptom reduction is a focus on clearly identifying the problems that the client wishes to reduce and creating an individualized approach to reducing negative symptoms. 2. Cognitive-behavioral approaches focus on working with clients to understand their thought patterns, the core beliefs that underlie them, and their behaviors. 3. Investigative inquiries where the client is invited to be curious about their experiences and dreams, thoughts, feelings, and actions in a respectful and safe environment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Everyone experiences obstacles and has patterns of behavior that keep individuals, couples, and families stuck with painful feelings of resentment, rejection, fear, guilt, anger, and sadness. No one needs to stay in those states; we all can heal, grow, and improve our lives. It takes a lot of courage to change one life; it also takes access to resources. Therapy work utilizes strategies for addressing sources that cause pain, tension, and conflict. It also incorporates helpful tools that benefit clients, patients, and their families so they can move into a more positive, respectful, empathic, and loving mindset. I think therapy can help, especially with a therapist you can trust, with whom there is positive communication, and who is skilled with the issues you wish to look at and resolve.
