About My Clients
I support both individuals and couples. I commonly work with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, and grief and am comfortable working with individuals who have been diagnosed with OCD, Bipolar, and PTSD.
My Background and Approach
The basis of my practice is Client-Centered Psychotherapy. I want to hear your story in your own words. I will reflect back what I am hearing; paraphrasing in the language of psychology and you can correct or confirm. As we talk, I am getting an idea of which of the treatment approaches I commonly use are relevant and applicable for your concerns. Our therapy over time will consist of our dialogue in session and the techniques, skills and perspectives that I share with you in the interest of helping you to help yourself. The things you learn through our work become your longterm takeaways so that years from now, when we are no longer doing therapy, if you encounter a similar situation, challenge, or dynamic in your life you will be able manage it on your own. In the language of psychology, this is called "self-efficacy", but it in plain English, it's that feeling of "I got this." Or "I can master life's challenges on my own."
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people heal themselves. My role as a therapist is to receive and witness clients where they are and provide support and skills training that can be used to resolve the issues that leads one to seek therapy.
