About My Clients
I am happy to work with anyone 18 and over. I spent a good bit of my career working for James Madison University’s Counseling Center so I have a lot of experience with young adults. Additionally I have had my private practice since 2017 and have worked with couples and adult individuals of all ages in all life transitions and facing multitudes of issues and diagnoses. It is a honor to work with clients on their journey to help them feel safe, grow and meet any goals they have.
My Background and Approach
My approach is tailored to each client’s individual needs, goals, experiences and personalities. I use elements of interpersonal theory, narrative therapy, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, Jungian theory and somatic theories. The mind and body are very interconnected. I give therapy homework for those that want it to help them integrate what we are doing in therapy into their week. I use my experience to determine what approach will be most meaningful for each client or couple.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe each client that makes their way to me is meant to be there and that I can help them on their journey. I believe every human being has equal worth. I am a LGBTQ+ ally. Over the years I have volunteered many hours in hospice, and schools, and created and ran a mentoring programs for underserved populations at JMU. I also taught hundreds ofJMU psychology interns. I believe that we all are deserving of love and we all have great potential for growth.
