About My Clients
I work well with many different kinds of people. If you are edgy or different, great. I can definitely work with that. Some of the things we can work through are depression, anxiety, extended family drama, substance use, gender/sexuality discovery, religious/spiritual exploration, alternative relationships/struggles, and struggles with motivation. I also have years of experience with people who have self-harm/suicidal ideas as well as those who see and hear things that are not there.
My Background
I have worked in a youth treatment center, an upscale rehab, a maximum-security jail, and a long-term mental health hospital. Moral of the story is that I can quickly come up with solutions. If those don't work, I am creative enough to pivot to find something that will. My undergraduate degree is in performance art. This means I studied visual and theater art as my foundation. This informs my approach because I believe it takes creativity to move from challenges to solutions. I built a small book of easy-to-understand diagrams on how childhood trauma, addictive behaviors, and codependent relationships all dance together. This is a primary tool that I use in the first few sessions we spend together. The counseling methods I use are increasing conscious awareness, trauma processing, storytelling, meaning discovery, and solution development. I am well-versed in open relationships, kink/fetish culture, and nomadic/festival lifestyles.

If you have any substance use (even alcohol or weed) I can work with you using a full stop or dial-it-back approach. I am very flexible and work to meet people where they are at. We send lots of reminders about appointments and are flexible about scheduling. We understand that life is hard - that's why you are seeking counseling. My main goal is to be the counselor you always needed. The one that is down to earth, easy to talk to, and that will help you explore your options. I want to make mental health as accessible and understandable as possible. If you've questioned the point of therapy before, I get it.
