About My Clients

I love working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are in periods of transition or adjustment. This could mean school, college, job, life, identity, or value adjustments. I strive to be inclusive, supportive, affirming, and curious about ideas, beliefs, and values. Most of my clients identify as queer and have complicated relationships with themselves, their families and personal histories, aspects of their identifies, and a deep desire for wholeness and authenticity.

My Background and Approach

I consider myself a person centered therapist which to me means that I fully believe that my client is the expert on their own experience and greatest resource for healing. I take a holistic approach in my work with clients, addressing and affirming the whole person, not just the initial problem that brought them into therapy. I recognize that though a specific problem may bring someone into therapy, typically "the problem" is actually a complicated web of interwoven layers and concerns that are explored and dismantled during the process of therapy. In a therapy setting, I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the foundation for healing. That being said, I take pride in cultivating meaningful relationships with my clients built on mutual respect and shared vision for their road to change. It is important to me that I never ask clients to do something I would be unwilling to do myself.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Life is too short to stay stuck in behaviors, relationships, and patterns that detract rather than enhance our lives. At some point in all of our lives, we are likely to find ourselves stagnant and in need of a change, unsure which direction to go in a time of transition, or just dissatisfied and maybe not even sure why. It can be difficult to know where and how start the road to change and growth. Or even to know what you want that change to be right now. If this resonates with you, give me a shout because I have certainly experienced this and love helping others find their own pathways to personal change and transformation. Therapy isn't about the therapist but it's totally normal to be curious about and want to have a human to human connection with your therapist. So if you are curious to learn a bit more about me, my perspective, and general personality, please visit my website as it has a lot more information than can be viewed here.
