It's time to get up, but the day ahead feels too overwhelming. You've missed out on so much, and you worry what will happen next--what everyone will think. You feel powerless to change, and you’re so tired of trying things that don’t work. No one understands why you can’t just move forward, and you may feel completely alone. I want you to know that you’re not crazy, and things don't have to be like this forever.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in helping people heal from the effects of layers of trauma and symptoms of anxiety, depression, dissociation, & PTSD. I offer Somatic Experiencing®, Art Therapy, talk therapy (CBT), and other tools to help you build skills for coping with current stressful events, and to help you find freedom from the patterns that have been holding you back.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My counseling approach is informed by Steven Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and Adult Attachment research. Additionally, my experience of being a first-generation Jamaican immigrant who grew up in the melting pot of South Florida also impacts my world-view. I love learning, and make it a priority to deepen my understanding of human nature and the science behind why we do what we do. When I’m not working, I enjoy taking walks, slowly transforming my brown-thumb into a green-thumb in the flower garden, traveling, taking art classes & workshops, book-binding, painting & collaging in one of several art journals, reading novels and (non-gory) psychological thrillers, decorating my ACNH island, and rambling about in the woods with my family.
