About My Clients
You may appear capable and high-functioning on the outside while struggling internally with anxiety, perfectionism, self-criticism, shame, or difficulties in close relationships. I often work with Asian, Asian American, Japanese, and bicultural adults, as well as people navigating family expectations, attachment wounds, trauma, or life across cultures. Together, we explore the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and help you reconnect with a more authentic sense of yourself.
My Background and Approach
I have over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist and am a certified AEDP therapist and supervisor. My approach is experiential, emotion-focused, attachment-based, and trauma-informed. Rather than focusing only on understanding problems intellectually, I help you slow down and notice what is happening emotionally, physically, and relationally in the present moment. Together, we can explore patterns shaped by earlier relationships, make space for emotions or parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others. Born and raised in Japan, I also bring an understanding of cultural expectations, migration, bicultural identity, and intergenerational family dynamics. Therapy is collaborative and offered in both Japanese and English, with attention to your individual pace and experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe meaningful change grows from feeling deeply understood rather than judged or pushed to change. I value curiosity, compassion, authenticity, and respect for each person’s cultural and relational context. My hope is to create a therapeutic relationship where you can bring more of yourself into the room and gradually discover new possibilities for how you relate to yourself and others.
