About My Clients
Most of my clients are wanting to work on anxiety, depression, OCD, insomnia, diagnosis, self-actualization & identity, body image, existential concerns, & relationship concerns. I especially enjoy working with teens, young adults, & women. Your goals shape our sessions. I tailor techniques & treatment plans to best meet your needs. You're the expert on yourself & your experiences, & I'm the expert in how to achieve your counseling goals.
My Background and Approach
Do you like treatment based in science & supported by strong evidence that holds up to clinical research? Me too! I'm a humanistic, evidence-based provider. I mainly utilize CBT, & integrate DBT, ACT, & ERP as appropriate. I'm well-versed in trauma & attachment. I often use psychoeducation. Clients often share they find it helpful to understand how their brains & bodies work in relation to the concerns we’re working on. I’m passionate about neurophysiology & teaching clients in a way that's easy to understand & apply in day-to-day life, especially with trauma & anxiety. I’ve worked in both private practice & integrated primary care, & have provided both traditional talk therapy & equine-assisted outdoor therapy (Natural Lifemanship). At this time, I am offering telehealth talk therapy only. WA is my lifelong home, & I love it. I enjoy being outdoors, working with my horses, leatherworking, DIY & car projects. I love animals - I have 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 horses, & 9 chickens.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I consider myself a feminist therapist, and I am sex-positive, as well as gender and LGBTQ-affirming. I am eating-disorder informed and uphold the HAES model. The code of ethics for my profession requires respect and support of client autonomy, cultural sensitivity and competence, and not allowing our personal biases to impact our clients in a harmful way. I grew up in & currently reside in a rural area. The needs & experiences of folks from &/or within rural communities resonate strongly with me. I consider myself a feminist therapist, & I am sex-positive, as well as gender & LGBTQ-affirming. I am eating-disorder informed & strive to uphold the HAES model. It's important to me to find balance between showing up as my authentic, human self, & having strong therapeutic boundaries. It's important to me to create a space where folks can express themselves & be at ease. Sarcasm, swearing, dark humor, & pets showing up on camera are all welcome but not required.
