About My Clients
You might have a vision about how you want to engage in life, but your mental health concerns may keep you from making that vision a reality. A competent, reliable, and valid comprehensive psychological assessment or psychotherapy at our practice can increase your confidence and provide a clear plan for attaining your goals and improving your symptoms. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental, safe space where you can open up about your experiences and explore paths to your best self.
My Background and Approach
Kamaria Chisolm offers psychological assessments and talk therapy both in-person and virtually at her practice, Sageview Psychology, in Cedar Hill, Texas. She earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Howard University and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Canisius College. She earned a Ph.D in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University where she completed her doctoral dissertation titled, “The Relationship between Attachment, Coping, and Psychological Distress in a Sample of Adolescent Females in Foster Care.” She is also a member of Alpha Phi Omega, National Holmes Scholars, Golden Key Honour Society, Chi Sigma Iota, Pi Lambda Theta, and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Chisolm uses evidence based therapies that align with the needs and presenting concerns. Specifically, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness based therapy, and interpersonal therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
From a very young age, I naturally gravitated towards helping others. I have always had a passion for engaging in shared human experiences and meeting people where they are. It was exciting to learn about psychology during my undergraduate career at Howard University. Once I was surrounded by leaders in the field of psychology, my education sparked my passion for the complexities of the mind and body. Brain and Behavior was one of my favorite subjects to study when I started to formulate theories around environment, genetics, and mental health that later informed the direction of my graduate program. My focus and priority on the relationship between therapy and the assessment process developed over my time and tenure at Howard, specifically with my work within the foster care population. Since the start of my professional experience in 2004, my clients have inspired me to continue growing and developing as a clinician. I continue to be grateful and honored to help in this way.
