About My Clients

I frequently work with young adults as they navigate the many challenges and changes that period of life presents. I also enjoy supporting clients during transitions throughout the lifespan. Many of the clients I work with experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, and/or the impacts of trauma. I also work with individuals in recovery from addiction. Further, I provide individual therapy to family members/caregivers of people who experience addiction and/or severe mental health concerns.

My Background and Approach

Life’s most difficult experiences can provide seeds for change. On our own, it can be challenging to see their potential. When given a safe space and tools, we are best able to plant these seeds and cultivate meaningful growth. I aim to create a non-judgmental, authentic, and warm environment to grow and harvest insights and build skills to better navigate life experiences. I received my Master’s in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. My background is in community mental health, specifically working with young people experiencing the onset of severe mental health concerns such as a first episode of psychosis. I am a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based therapist. I frequently utilize dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) skills to support the therapeutic process. When working with those in recovery, I can work alongside 12-step programs or harm reduction approaches.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

One of the reasons I was drawn to this field was due to my own recovery and growth process. I cycled through various behaviors in attempts to cope with my emotions and reactions to change. I reached a bottom during my young adulthood. Through my own personal work, I have learned how to live life on life's terms and cope more effectively. While no two stories are the same, I can empathize with the difficulty of asking for help and accepting the need for change. I give you a lot of credit for being here. When I am not working, I enjoy checking out local restaurants, hanging with my two awesome kitties, going to yoga sculpt classes, or being by the water. If you want to learn more about how I can help, please reach out. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
