About My Clients
I am particularly passionate about working systemically (with both internal and external systems) with issues including (but not limited to) spiritual trauma, identity exploration, LGBTQ+ related issues, relational conflict, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. In my work, I take a person-centered and strengths-based approach, and integrate art therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, narrative therapy, IFS (internal family systems)/ parts work, and specific DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) skills.
My Background and Approach
I am a temp-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Art Therapist. I received my MFT and art therapy masters degrees from Antioch University in Seattle, WA and have been practicing for 2 years. Using a systemic and strengths-focused lens, I primarily work with teens, young adults, families and couples. I specialize in working with spiritual trauma, navigating LGBTQ+ related issues, relational conflict, anxiety, and depression. I tend to integrate art therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, narrative therapy, IFS (internal family systems), and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) into my clinical approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you are worthy, you belong in this world, and you are stronger than you think. We all experience some combination of “little t” and “big T” traumas just by making our way through life, and these experiences can lead you to construct a story about yourself that is anything but empowering. Part of my role is to mirror your strengths and your worth back to you— to remind you of the truth about yourself, despite what your parents, friends, partners, church, and society have told you. Also, you are the expert in the room. You know your story, your culture, and your relationships more than I do. My desire as I work with you is to cultivate open communication and transparency: if something is not clicking in session, I always encourage you to bring it up with me. My goal isn’t to be a great therapist for just anyone and everyone, but to learn what it means to be YOUR best therapist. We are a collaborative team working towards the same goals, learning and shifting as we go.
