About My Clients
I love working with adults (ages 25-50) who are trying to understand themselves and grow. I offer therapy for anxiety, past trauma and relational issues. I offer EMDR and IFS for the treatment of trauma, and work with individuals to develop deep insight into the reason behind the patterns that cause anxiety, depression or keep you from thriving.
My Background and Approach
I am very insight oriented, and focus on understanding not only what is bothering you (i.e. anxiety, panic, symptoms of trauma, self-esteem issues, etc.) but also who you are more holistically and how some of the ways you had to cope or survive in your past are impacting you now. Using this framework (IFS/ EMDR/ mindfulness/psychodynamic) I offer compassion, curiosity and openness so we can explore, understand and change the ways that are no longer serving us, while also developing self-compassion, leading to a greater sense of autonomy and lasting change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply committed to understanding the intersectional identities you hold, including race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, age, religion, etc and how these impact your experience in life. It is important to me to approach these aspects of your experience with cultural humility and curiosity, as well as focusing on educating myself on the impact of institutional racism and trans-generational and racial trauma, as well as owning and working on my own biases as a cis, white queer woman. I deeply believe in the power of therapy and have been committed to my own weekly therapy for the last 25 years. In that time, I have experienced the freedom that comes from owning who I am, discarding socialized shame and working through past trauma to come to a place where I actually like who I am, and care well for myself. I believe in the power of this healing process and have seen so many of my clients move from feeling stuck to empowerment and self-compassion.
