It's no wonder that when trauma, shame, and anxiety run the show, people feel stuck in their lives. It may be your experience that one part of you desperately desires change knowing you are destined for more, while another part tells you it's impossible or that you're incapable. The brain fiercely protects its beliefs but is oblivious to its own potential for change and capacity to endure that process. I'm here to help you unbelieve those lies so you can reconnect with your true self.
My Background and Approach
Most people want a counselor that's down-to-earth. Someone that will *really* listen and shoot for a thorough understanding of your experiences. Someone that is gentle yet straightforward. And someone that isn't scared to talk about the things that have felt unmentionable in your life. With a little bit of humor sprinkled in when it's called for. All of these things are the foundation of how I love to work and connect with people. I believe being real in the therapy room and truly "getting" people is crucial--something that can make or break the work we do. Therapy is hard enough without feeling like we're being misunderstood or unseen. In my office (or through a screen), I'll make sure you feel known, not just the problem.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone is doing their best with the energy they have and the pressures they face. It does no good to shame people for being human. I stand with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and all other oppressed and marginalized communities that are fighting a fight they should never have to. I have a passion for challenging and dismantling harmful societal norms that lead to shame, toxic positivity, fat-phobia, racism, sexism, or anything that keeps people hurting and silent.
