About My Clients
Are you looking for a therapist that is affirming, calm, and shows up to the therapy room authentically just like you? I truly believe therapy should be about so much more than a diagnosis or symptoms but showing up just as you are. My clients come from all walks of life. I appreciate all humans through diversity including all body sizes, abilities, races, sexualities, genders, religions and political values.
My Background and Approach
I am a graduate of Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. I have extensive education and career experience working in the helping profession. I am a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and Brainspotting practitioner. I specialize in supporting clients through exploration of gender identity/expression or sexuality, exploring and processing dysfunctional dynamics, anxiety, depression, grief, and all things trauma. I arrive in the therapy room authentically, as a person, just like YOU. I am casual and laid back, but I'll gently challenge you with new ways of thinking or viewing situations, emotions, or thoughts. My approach is tailored to the need of the client with a foundation in psychodynamic theory. Outside of therapy, you’d likely find me hiking, reading, volunteering, doing advocacy work, or finishing a messy home DIY project.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their life. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think we develop mental health issues because of less healthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way in order to survive. So, this means that I do not think anyone is at fault for the behaviors/thoughts/patterns they enter the therapy space with, as this has been a means for survival. This also means I think you have the capacity to grow and to unlearn the less adaptive behaviors and replace them with more adaptive ones. I truly believe in making my office a safe place for all. I hope to see you soon!
