About My Clients
I am a firm believer that every child and adolescent has strength within them that they can utilize during difficult times. Working with children and adolescents is something that I am deeply passionate about because I believe that through supportive relationships, they can grow to be healthy and successful individuals. I have seen that children and adolescents thrive when they feel like someone is there for them, so I aim to provide just that!
My Background and Approach
I believe my education has provided a firm foundation to build my blossoming therapy career on. I had the opportunity to go through very exceptional counseling programs where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2016 and then later my Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2020, both from Fort Valley State University. Currently, I am working under the supervision of Lisa Ibekwe, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as I work towards becoming a fully licensed professional counselor. I work from an expressive arts therapy approach and a strength-based approach where I merge the two to help youth transform the undesirable components of themselves into strengths that they can use in building healthy relationships. I incorporate expressive therapies to help youth openly communicate their thoughts and feelings in therapy, which further aims to improve their communication skills, social skills, and overall mental health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value creating a comfortable environment where I can help children and adolescents talk about difficult issues they are dealing with as they tap into their inner self. I take an expressive approach to therapy which means incorporating activities like drawing, music, and painting into sessions. I have found that this approach allows youth to feel comfortable as they open up, express themselves, and focus on creating a positive mindset.
