About My Clients
I support folks navigating gender and/or sexuality exploration, family and/or romantic relationship troubles surrounding gender transition, and life as a child of immigrants. I'm registered with Twogether in Texas, meaning you can get a discount on your marriage license! Therapy with me isn’t about fitting into a box, it’s about co-creating a space that makes sense for you. I work with individuals, couples, and families, ages 16 and up.
My Background and Approach
I approach therapy as a co-collaborator. I firmly believe that you are the expert about your life and my role is to help you understand and feel more connected to yourself. This means we can work on labelling feelings, looking into the different parts of yourself and how they relate to each other, processing traumatic events in your life and the resulting self beliefs that came from those events, and understanding your values and how you want to live your life. I am Internal Families Systems (IFS) informed, which means that I oftentimes look at self-beliefs and behaviors as different parts of a whole. Other modalities I use are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which I use to bring in mindfulness and help you separate yourself from your thoughts. My belief is that therapy doesn't need to be so serious. Yes, we talk about serious things, but there's room for joy, too. At the end of the day, we're two people having a conversation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a trans person living in TX, I understand the struggle of living in a state that is passing many anti-LGBTQ laws. It is scary and the national political climate isn't helping. We are witnessing genocide and violence across the world. It is only valid for us to be dysregulated, disconnected, and feeling dis-ease. My approach to therapy is about slowing down together, unpacking what’s weighing on you, and identifying the spaces where you have power, agency, and autonomy while naming the systems that make that harder.
