About My Clients
We are informed by hundreds of relationships that contribute to the ways we relate to our loved ones, our work, our society, and ourselves. When those experiences seem to conflict, we feel anxiety, confusion, self-doubt, or depression. We can then dig deeper into unconscious narratives of who and how we should be without identifying underlying issues. Using our unique relationship, therapy becomes an organic, collaborative playfield for insight, self-change, and healthier self-expression.
My Background and Approach
I practice relational psychodynamic therapy. My task is to provide a holding environment in which you can honestly express and see yourself in relationships. Our work will create a structure of safety, trust, acceptance, and honesty with ourselves. We will use the therapeutic space to grow awareness of maladaptive patterns and learn to address your feelings more directly for a more intentional life. In my ongoing education, I have familiarized myself with some of the techniques and ideas of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. For clients looking to introduce some structure or homework into their work, DBT can help improve mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. We will discuss how we can use these tools to achieve your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a non-binary (they/them pronouns), queer, Filipino-American, POC therapist. I am a child of immigrants, an American citizen, and was raised and reside in Coast Salish, Duwamish, and Muckleshoot land. I am able-bodied and allistic. I believe these identities (and others) can contribute to our work in ways that absolutely need safe and open expression with each other. I approach all identities with cultural humility and openness to ongoing learning. I am also an unabashed geek who loves playing tabletop and video games, cartoons and anime, sci-fi/fantasy (especially Star Wars), comics and the Classics. I live with my spouse and our two fur babies, an anxious and friendly pittie named Bear and a sassy boss cat named Argie.
