About My Clients
I provide services to adults and teens navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, family and relationship problems, trauma, anger, or simply feeling stuck and disconnected from life. I also specialize in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community.
My Background and Approach
My approach is affirming, collaborative, and authentic—I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I draw from DBT, ACT, and Narrative Therapy to help clients regulate emotions, understand their values, tolerate distress, uncover meaning in challenges, and build practical tools to manage thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. Our first steps will be understanding your story and clarifying your goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan for how you’d like therapy to make a difference. You can expect a balance of exploring root issues and learning new skills. I’m not here just to nod along; I’ll be active in helping you uncover stuck points and find new ways forward. I have experience working in outpatient, hospital, and university settings. I hold a BA in psychology from Hendrix College, a MA in counseling from The University of Texas at Tyler, and a PhD in counselor education and supervision from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. While it can be challenging, I also believe there's space for humor, creativity, and relief. My goal is to provide a supportive, authentic environment where you feel safe to be who you are and empowered to move toward the life you want. Taking a look at the system we live in and who it's stacked against is important to me. I'm committed to advocacy with and on behalf of my clients. My goal is not just cultural competence; it's also cultural humility. We will always have more to learn. Social justice, celebrating the uniqueness of each person, and the belief that we all deserve equity, prosperity, and joy are foundational for me. In my free time, I love to travel, explore new foods, go to live music shows, and spend time with my partner and our rescue cat and dog.
