About My Clients
Therapy isn’t about fixing you because you aren’t broken. Maybe you feel stuck and aren’t sure what to do next at this stage in your life. Does anxiety have you in a chokehold? In your relationship, do you find yourselves sitting in separate rooms, not speaking to each other and coexisting in the space that once felt safe. Are you and your partner arguing nonstop? Are you looking for community; people you can trust to support you in the hard times? If any of this sounds like you, let's chat.
My Background and Approach
Sage & Summit, a therapy and consultation practice is built on cultural humility and clinical expertise. I specialize in helping Black women and men be their best self. I specialize in working with adults who are looking for personal and professional development and couples looking to reconnect and revitalize their relationships. My approach to therapy fuses a culturally relevant approach to structural family therapy, a model that emphasizes understanding the unique boundaries, roles & responsibilities in families and relationships, with a narrative, person-centered approach that encourages you to take ownership of rewriting your own story as an individual, couple or family.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the capacity to be their full self. Sometimes our childhood experiences or past relationships get in the way of us understanding who we are and how to live life to the fullest. I believe that all people have dignity and deserve respect. I am a therapist/activist and have put myself on the front lines of doing the work in society to make the world a safer place for my clients. Therapy is hard work but always has the potential to leave with you something more than when you started. As a Black woman, I did not grow up in a family that subscribed to therapy - we just didn't talk about things like that. But I know how that limited my own development and after working through my own stuff, I know there's a different way, a better way and I want to share that with the Black community. If you made it this far, you also need to know that I'm Team Chipotle and a sucker for a good reality tv show. If any of this resonates with you, let's connect.
