About My Clients

Do you default to replying with “No worries, I got it!” or “Sure, I could help!” If this is you, it could be tiring to be that go-to person that everyone – and their mom – counts on. There’s more to it though, right? Like feeling overwhelmed, burned out, maybe even resentful. Your needs are ignored by not only others, but yourself. You stuff it all down, which is never any fun. Rinse and repeat. Sounds familiar? I’ve worked with so many individuals over the years who have shared similar stories.

My Approach to Helping

One part of therapy with me is helping you understand yourself more clearly and connect the dots between your past experiences, current struggles, and the patterns that keep showing up. The other part is learning practical skills and tools that you can actually use outside of session. It isn't my style to throw a bunch of therapy mumbo jumbo around, because as someone who has been in therapy myself, I'm not fond of it. And I won’t send you bunch of handouts or worksheets just because for homework either — I'll share with you what I personally think could be helpful to you and assign you things that I believe you could realistically do outside of sessions. I'm not that therapist that will just sit there and nod, then ask you, "So, how did that make you feel?" I'm animated, engaged, and present to make sure that you're seen, heard, and understood.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

Take this as you will, but I hear clients say, "So, I haven't shared this with anyone yet..." fairly early on in our work together. I like to believe that people feel really comfortable and safe opening up to me because of the nonjudgmental, warm, and openminded vibe I give off. Sheesh, opening up could be nerve-racking when you're unpacking your life story and sharing parts of yourself that you haven't shared with anyone yet. Nothing is ever TMI in the (virtual) therapy room nor will I frown upon things you share with me. You want to vent about that thing your friend did the other day that annoyed the crap out of you? No judgments, tell me about it. You need to cry it out? Please do and no need to apologize. Ugly cry all you want, snot and all, and feel free to grab a tissue. This space and time is yours; use it however it may be helpful for you. If I sound like I'd be a good fit for you, check out my website at www.anchorblossom.com
