About My Clients
You find yourself struggling to be the gentle, thoughtful parent you want to be. You've read all the parenting advice out there, but still find yourself feeling disconnected, lost, and unsure how to become the parent you want to be. You find yourself frustrated with your child and yourself on a daily basis. You want to thrive as a parent, not just survive. I am here to help you do just that.
My Background and Approach
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2010. I have worked with adolescents and adults, struggling with relationships, anxiety, divorce, parenting, and other life transitions. While I pull from several theories, I am flexible in my approach in order to meet the unique needs of each person in my office. When it comes to those struggling with parenting, I typically work from an attachment perspective. Unprocessed issues from our own childhood can be triggered by our children. When we are in this state, we cannot implement the tools that we've learned. I am here to help you dig deeper within yourself to look at your past, make sense of it, and discover how to minimize the ways in which your past affects your parenting in the present. Sometimes this may mean working through past trauma. Other times, it may be exploring the ways you were parented. We will also examine your attachment styles and how that plays out in your relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you possess the ability to address obstacles in your life, to learn from them, and to move forward a stronger, happier person. I am here to help you discover this within yourself and learn just how capable you really are. I do not discriminate in my office and support clients from all walks of life. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with respect, empathy, and compassion (in and out of my office).
