About My Clients
Many clients I work with find themselves struggling with anxiety, life transitions, trauma, concerns, and LGBTQ+ -related stress. These issues often lead to difficulty with emotion regulation, relationships, and managing self-care. I work best with folks open to learning more about themselves and those invested in the process of therapy.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive training in cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. These practices help folks better understand emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. There is also the opportunity to learn concrete skills. These modalities often inform how I conceptualize and work with clients, although I do not stay limited to them and incorporate psychodynamic and relational techniques. I tend to be nurturing and affirming in my approach, however I will also provide challenges when appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a career changer, I became a therapist after spending several years working in the hospitality industry. I have always been drawn to people and learning their stories. Therapy has allowed me to do that in a deeper, more fulfilling way. I also have personal experience as a family member to someone with significant mental health challenges which has given me a firsthand look into the systemic obstacles to accessing care. My curiosity and experience combined have allowed me the ability to guide and support clients in living a life they deem worth living.
