About My Clients
Julie works with children, adolescents and young adults struggling with issues such as ADHD, mood disorders, self-esteem and LGBTQIA+. Julie believes that every client is different and she enjoys meeting clients where they are at. Throughout the counseling process, Julie will work collaboratively with clients to identify and work toward achieving treatment goals. Julie believes counseling is a big step to take toward self-discovery and making positive changes.
My Background and Approach
Julie is an EMDR trained, licensed professional counselor based out of central Illinois. She graduated from Illinois State University in 2017 with her bachelor’s in psychology and later earned her master’s degree in clinical counseling through Capella University in 2021. She has experience working with both adult and adolescent clients with a history of depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, psychosis and ADHD within the office, school and home setting. Julie creates a safe and comfortable environment through validation, empathy and meeting the client where they are through individual and family sessions. She understands the importance of meeting clients where they are in order to collaboratively set goals. Julie aims to assist clients and families with making healthy life changes through humanistic dialogue and psychoeducation. She also utilizes the use of EMDR, play, art, CBT and DBT therapies.
