About My Clients
You feel like you're doing the best you can, but you're barely holding on. Anxiety and nightmares keep you up at night, you lash out at the ones you love, and you feel ashamed and alone. Sometimes you worry that you're losing your mind and it's getting harder to fake it. If you're struggling with PTSD, traumatic memories, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and loss, or even "simple" life transitions, I can help you find hope, peace, and direction.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience with teens, adults and families. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 2007 and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Connecticut in 2009. I am a Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist and I specialize in PTSD/Trauma, Physical/Emotional/Sexual Abuse, Anxiety, Panic, Grief and Mood Disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Thanks to my travels, I have a breadth of experience across many populations and demographics. After graduate school, I packed a suitcase, hopped on a plane and spontaneously moved to England. I was a social worker for five schools throughout inner-city east London. The community was comprised mostly of refugees from Somalia and Bangladesh, 90% of whom were Muslim. It was an amazing, immersive experience that focused on issues like addressing parental mental health, education/prevention of sex-trafficking, cultural issues, complex trauma, etc. I have a strong commitment to social justice in my life in and outside of work.
