About My Clients

Has your child been acting differently than usual? Maybe they seem secretive, quiet, emotional or withdrawn. They might not want to do the activities they used to enjoy or be scared of things that didn’t scare them in the past. I am here to help your child in dealing with and understanding what they have been through in a age appropriate and empathetic manner. In therapy, your child can understand their problems and learn positive ways to cope with what has been bothering them.

My Background and Approach

I have over 20 years of experience working with children, teens, parents, and families with various problems and diagnoses. Twelve of those years were in one of the leading Los Angeles based agencies that specialize in treating children and their families who experienced sexual abuse and trauma. These years of experience have taught me that as a therapist, I need to meet the children where they are at, both developmentally and emotionally, to help them. Building a safe environment in sessions is key to their healing process. I combined those skills with other techniques that the child or parent can use outside of the therapy room, such as coping skills and mindfulness, to create the needed change. Treating children can look very different than working with teens and adults. When working with children, I typically use play and art to help them express themselves. When working with teens, I create an environment where they feel heard and supported.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The world has gotten broader & more complicated for today's youth, from easy access to information, to the use of social media. Our children are witnessing social injustice, large political divides and conflict regarding LGBTQ+ rights. Although the issues have always been present, with the internet and 24-hour news, our youth are more aware than ever. Children struggling with these social issues, often feel added pressure from their peers, intensifying the challenge of dealing with the issues. Awareness helps to create change, but also increases stress, sadness and anxiety. My goal is to help parents explore how to discuss these sensitive topics with their children, and understand the importance of supporting their child. I can also help your child to understand their feelings about these topics and learn to channel them in a helpful manner.
