About My Clients
Do you find yourself feeling anxious more often than not? Are you struggling with brain fog, lack of motivation and simply being overwhelmed? Anxiety, depression, work stress, and ADHD can all present in similar ways and cause significant struggles in your day to day functioning. I look forward to working with you or your teen to identify triggers and establish skills to take back control.
My Background and Approach
I have been working in the mental health field for over 18 years. I began my career working with adolescents struggling with a wide range of mental health issues in residential and day treatment settings. I started my private practice in 2012 in hopes of being able to reach more adults and adolescents before they required a more intense level of care. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care amonst other modalities. I use an ecelectic approach and encourage my clients to take charge in their therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the first step in making progress, and feeling comfortable with your therapist is paramount in this. I believe that acknowledging that we are all human and have experiences that shape our lives is the first step in being able to understand each other. I am a mom, a step-mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a boss, and an advocate. All of these roles and experiences have shaped who I am as a therapist. I value the importance of medication in the treatment process, and also agree that not all cases require this type of intervention. Medication is a personal decision and I will support you on whatever path you choose. I have specialized knowledge and experience with the special education system, as I both worked in a school setting and also have a son on the spectrum. I understand the school's point of view and also how to navigate that from the parent side of the table.
