My Background and Approach
I find that clients appreciate my relatable approach to therapy and often tell me that I “just get it on so many levels.” I connect with my clients using my energetic personality and infuse therapy with humor, authenticity, and a whole lot of “just be yourself". I aim to demonstrate Unconditional Positive Regard so will feel accepted and respected. I believe you are the expert on you and I am there to help guide you towards healing. All of my work has its basis in Evidence Based Practices, mostly rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and borrowing from many theories and therapeutic techniques. I tailor my approach to my client's needs. I will help you understand what's going on during the moments when you feel panicky and out of control, or overwhelmed with sadness and hopeless thoughts. We will work together to apply proven techniques to recognize what these feelings are, accept and allow them in a way that makes you feel empowered, less distressed and more at peace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that asking for help is a sign of great strength. Being able to recognize when we're struggling and develop the motivation to be vulnerable with another human being is a sign of incredible strength and fortitude. I know that being a therapist is my purpose and passion. I see it as a great privilege to be invited into another person's inner world and sit alongside their pain, make space for their suffering and have the opportunity to offer them hope and a path toward the future. I believe all people are worthy of love and acceptance, not for what they are, or what they do, but simply for "being." One of my main core beliefs is that true inner healing is achieved by knowing, owning and living our truth. Sometimes, that truth is judged or rejected by our friends, family and greater society. I work tirelessly as an advocate to ensure that all people feel worthy and have an equal voice. I have walked this path and would be honored to accompany you on yours.
