About My Clients
Those who are navigating faith transitions, religious trauma, purity culture, and grief related to faith deconstruction are especially drawn to my work because of my lived experience and understanding of how impactful high-control religion and spiritual abuse can be. I am also passionate about working with individuals who have experienced parentification or are recovering perfectionists and intellectualizers.
My Background and Approach
I support folks seeking to strengthen and deepen their relationship to themselves and others after high-control religion. Those who have experienced pain, disappointment, and distress in faith communities are especially drawn to my work because of my lived experience and understanding of relational wounds and hurt that may follow faith deconstruction. It can be isolating to reconsider long-held beliefs or spiritual practices that once held a lot of hope and meaning, and to lose connection with others who don't share your new beliefs. I integrate sex therapy, EMDR, and other somatic tools to support this work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The therapeutic relationship is a microcosm where an individual will get to experience someone honoring their full humanity as well as identify and heal relational wounds—and enhance their ability to connect with others as well as themselves through having the allocated space of therapy to practice and, ideally, a sense of safety within the context of relationships. And, my goal as a therapist is to highlight client strengths and equip and empower them to move about the world with more ease and a sense of belonging. At its best, therapy is a space where your full identity humanity is held, honored, and cultivated.
