About My Clients
I adapt to my clients' needs and requests to build the foundation necessary for a successful therapeutic relationship that targets reaching personal and therapeutic goals and as well as wellness. I strive to give my clients the support they need while challenging them in the areas they need to be challenged in, when ready. I listen and work with my client(s) to ensure that therapy is a safe environment to work on many different aspects of one's life.
My Background and Approach
I practice using an eclectic approach. An eclectic therapist pulls from a variety of disciplines and approaches and may use a wide range of proven methods to establish the best combination of therapeutic tools to help the client. In effect, an eclectic therapist tailors the therapeutic process for each individual by using whatever form of treatment, or combination of treatments, has been shown to be most effective for treating the particular problem. Some of the theories and interventions I gravitate towards include a variety of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions implemented with a hint Humanistic approach to emphasize empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard while promoting change. Master In Counseling (Option: Marriage and Family Therapy) Trained in: Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Parenting Program, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Managing and Adapting Practices.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have always wanted to help individuals around me evolve and overcome difficult situations that life puts us in and felt that Marriage and Family Therapy was the field that encompassed most of the practices I wanted to expand on. I am a strong believer that anybody can change if they want to and I am here to help! I contend that most behaviors are learned and that addressing them and elicit awareness are the first steps to shift behaviors and grow. I also believe that we are not necessarily taught to communicate effectively.
