You've gone through painful experiences, whether recently or as a kid, that continue you to bother you and impact your life, your choices, and your relationships. You're dealing with scary thoughts, gut-twisting emotions and straight up panic sometimes. Living with pain and fear would make anyone feel lost, alone, even numb. You want to live a life aligned with who you really are--not limited by this pain. You want someone who really gets what it's like to support you.
My Background and Approach
Hi, I’m Julia. I help adults & teens in Maryland heal from painful experiences and move forward towards connection, meaning and joy. I’m right here with you every step of the way towards wholeness and wellness, with proven strategies that work, all in a judgment-free space. Despite the pain, you are unbroken, worthy of support, and most of all–you don’t have to get through this alone! Imagine being able to leave behind the cycle of pain, stress, and anxiety, and feel confident you can handle anything life can throw at you. Imagine being able to feel accepting and loving towards your complete self! I’m here to help you experience that and more, with trauma-informed therapy and evidence-based therapy techniques. I use work with Acceptance and Commitment, CBT, body work and parts work, mindfulness and insight therapy. I believe that the best, wisest answers come from within and our feelings guide us toward our most authentic selves. I am an online, self-pay, out-of-network therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a therapist because I believe all people deserve healing, understanding, and a safe space to reach their fullest potential--and that our mental health challenges make sense based on the difficult things we've faced. They AREN'T weaknesses, but rather our bodies and minds wisely showing us that something needs to change. I believe deeply in kindness, justice, and love, and that love is action, not words--a few actions I take to both love and change this world around me are: I work with ProBonoCounseling.org and see part of my caseload at no cost to the client. I am a Maryland Master Naturalist, a board member for a local environmental protection group, and a proud member of my community garden--among other things. I love helping others explore their values too--I look forward to hearing from you!
