About My Clients
I see individual adults who are strong, resilient and vulnerable to show up as their whole genuine self to do the work. Many come in having anxiety disguised as physical symptoms such as pain, migraines, heart palpitations, dizzy spells, shortness of breath. Many have struggles in relationships, worrying something bad is about to happen and struggle to let go of control. This can look like seeking reassurance, constantly checking to ensure things are ok. This can be a confining way of life.
My Background and Approach
Trauma and anxiety can creep into our lives and hide in many ways such as loss of connection in relationships, getting stuck by negative thoughts about yourself and the world and sometimes manifests as physical symptoms like stomach aches or headaches. Coming to therapy can help identify, understand and manage these challenges, help you take your life back. I use a person-centered and integrated approach specialized your to your unique needs. I aim to partner with you through the therapeutic process, be your coach and cheerleader. I specialize in exposure therapy and treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Utilizing evidence based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention and Mindfulness. I believe in the healing power of animals and integrate my dog Honey as a comfort animal in my practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Integrity is a core value to me and the profession, to show up as my best and genuine self and to respect the dignity and worth of the people I serve. I value equity and accessibility of therapeutic services to all people which is why I offer sliding scale rates. My roots are working in the shelter system, I feel passionate and protective of the homeless community. I do community based outreach and provide basic goods to people in my neighborhood who may be homeless or food insecure. I'm a proud feminist and often approach the work through a feminist lens. Above all I'm a humanitarian, a card carrying member of the human race and feel strongly aligned to treating others with humanity, dignity and respect. And my dog Honey is the most adorable, sweetest, bestest little peanut. She's often napping in the background, sometimes snoring and we work with her around grounding techniques.
