About My Clients
My ideal client is someone who shows up to session ready to engage. I am happy to assist in identifying and clarifying goals, I enjoy working with clients who want change and are ready to explore what is possible even if they are not sure what specific changes they want yet. I support curiosity and welcome discomfort, as I believe they are necessary parts of growth.
My Background and Approach
I started my career in social work by working as a foster care case aide. In this role I supervised parenting time visitation and provided guidance to parents to help them adhere to court expectations. I began working as a therapist at the Kent County Correctional Facility meeting with adult males to address substance use and co-occurring disorders. In this position I obtained my CAADC and focused on developing an approach to support both recovery and re-entry into the community. Most of my training focused on Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe my experiences working in foster care and within the jail have allowed me to show up to each session with empathy and acceptance. I can effectively establish trust within therapeutic relationships while also holding clients accountable for their own growth. I have extensive experience working with individuals from various backgrounds due to these past roles.
