About My Clients
Hi, I'm Judy. I specialize in work with individuals, children as young as 2, families, and groups. I have experience with helping individuals facing health crisis, homelessness, those recovering from trauma, supporting individuals in mental health crisis, and more. I have specific expertise working with children and teens managing school and peer stress, working through emotion regulation challenges, self-esteem struggles, family conflict, and processing trauma and traumatic grief.
My Background and Approach
My approach is person-centered, collaborative, playful, and encouraging. This means that the focus is on you and your ability to thrive within your own environment and not just on symptoms or diagnosis. Each individual is supported utilizing a theoretical approach that is relevant to their presenting concern, culturally mindful, individualized, and backed by research. Much of my theoretical frame is influenced by a Humanistic and Jungian approach, and includes aspects of child-centered play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy. As a social worker I believe in the importance of relationship and this comes paramount in our work together. After all, if there is not trust and safety, healing cannot begin. With over 12 years of experience as a social worker and therapist I pull from my knowledge and work in various social work and clinical settings.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each person possesses within themselves the capacity to heal and overcome adversity and stress. I believe firmly in the importance of working with the whole person and to help them build an environment and support network that is not only affirming but safe. I feel the most important aspect of therapy is a trusting relationship.
