About My Clients
I use a strengths-based approach to customize every therapy to the person you are and ultimately want to be. I work collaboratively with you to highlight your strengths and target problem areas. I work with individual adults and couples struggling with a wide range of issues. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, career, or are just feeling stuck, I'm ready to get you or your relationship on the path to growth and healing.
My Background and Approach
Each person is unique and so is each treatment plan. I have advanced training in: Internal Family Systems (IFS) and its idea that we are all have adult Selves with the wisdom to guide us. In IFS the goal is to help integrate our parts so our true Selves can come forward. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based treatment that focuses on changing problematic patterns and deepening connection. I also incorporate Behavioral Therapy, Insight Oriented Therapy and Mind/Body Awareness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
From my beginnings as a performer to my career as a social worker, I've always been curious about what makes people tick. The flexibility and creativity of the theater world informs the work I do as a clinician. I like to engage with clients and be light on my feet in session. I want to collaborate with clients as part of a team. Some think that therapy has to be hard work but I feel that it should be like seeing any other medical professional. Treatment brings relief. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a professional actor and educator. I have an undergraduate degree in theater and spent my twenties pursuing a career as a performer and puppeteer in Chicago, Illinois. I eventually landed at Catharsis Productions where I was a sexual assault prevention educator for six years. Because of my background, I have a keen interest in the intersection of the arts and mental health as well a passion for supporting and guiding survivors of sexual violence on their journey to healing.
