About My Clients
Each of us deserves a full life aligned with our values, and we each have a different path to get there. I work with clients hoping to draw on their strengths to move past stressors and barriers so that they can create positive change. Whether you are working through trauma, stress, parenting challenges or something else entirely, I know that we can build a strong relationship and individualized support plan that lays the foundation for you to transition from surviving to thriving.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker with nine years of experience in the field. I have my master's in social work from the University of Chicago and an additional certification in trauma-informed care. I began my career working with families on Chicago's South Side providing school-based mental health support for young people ages three to twenty-one before transitioning to virtual therapy full-time. Leading with acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, I tailor my approach to fit each client's unique needs and enjoy infusing brain science and clinical research into sessions to help clients better understand their experiences. With couples, I use the Gottman Method's evidence-based techniques for growing stable, meaningful, and loving partnerships. Believing that you are the expert of your own experience, I help clients to draw from their strengths, set boundaries that serve them, and create change for themselves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply passionate about anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices. I have dedicated my career to supporting children, adolescents and families dealing with trauma in communities with little access to mental health care. In this work, I have encountered so many helping professionals struggling with burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. I believe it is vital to equip them with the self-care and emotional/mental wellness tools they need to continue their important work. I also would like to see a more diverse field, and thus support aspiring Black therapists in achieving licensure and private practice ownership.
