About My Clients

I love working with little people and their parents. The years when feelings are big but vocabulary is small can be hard for kids and parents. If you're exhausted by meltdowns, tantrums, refusals, and negotiations, let me help both you and your child to know how to handle the moments in the day that are feeling overwhelming. I also love an angsty teenager. If your teen is withdrawn, irritable, or stressed, I would love to be the wise adult that they'll talk to and listen to.

My Background and Approach

I think it's important to help both the kid who is struggling and the parent who is isn't sure how to help them in their struggle. I want to understand your child, help them to understand themselves, and also help you to have the kind of relationship where they know you are there help them. I make therapy feel safe, relaxed, and even fun so that kids of all ages look forward to an hour in my office. But I want them to not just build a safe, trusting relationship with me. I also want them to have that same kind of relationship with you, as their life long support system. So we'll work together, while maintaining all of the confidentiality that allows therapy to work. We will have parent sessions, we'll have parent-child sessions, and we'll have sessions with just me and your child. I have found that the combination of the three is what creates long lasting mental health for a child and is also what allows you, as the person who loved them first, to enjoy this child of yours.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The mantra in my home, with my kids, is "Everyone Is Different." It's important to me to not just respect a person, but to be curious and interested in who they are and what makes them THEM. This belief system is what makes me love my job in getting to know the insides of so many different people. But it is also what makes me love reading, where I can learn about so many different people in so many different places in time. It is what makes me politically active, as I think that equal rights, at the very least, should be legal and protected. I love being outside and traveling where I can seethe different parts of the earth and the people who live on it. And I love Taylor Swift, for showing us that we also have a million moods and versions of ourselves and we can celebrate our own internal diversity as well!
