About My Clients
It always amazes me the complete turn around clients can do with the tools they already have, they just needed to discover, reorganize or sharpen a few things. Clients who typically seek me out are looking for a therapist who specializes in trauma, perinatal or postpartum issues, women's issues, a new ADHD diagnosis, or who can help support them in a significant life transition. I am honored to offer you a space to heal, learn and feel you are not alone.
My Background and Approach
At every touch point I teach and practice from a place of integrity and authenticity. My focus is clear as I work within the realm of my values as a clinician (emotional awareness, courage over comfort, self compassion, learning from self, empowerment, celebrating all progress, and humor to keep a healthy buoyancy in therapy). I work with my client to create a treatment approach for them that is as unique as they and their story are. I do this by using creative therapy techniques as well as Somatic Experiencing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rogerian/Person Centered Approach, and Eclectic Therapy by pulling from the nearly two decades worth of resources and experience I have obtained. I earned a BA in Human Services from Millikin University, Masters in Social Work from Aurora University, as well as a PEL certification as a School Social Worker. Since 2021 I've studied and applied Somatic Experiencing, and in 2020 earned my Perinatal Mental Health Certification.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe strongly in client's self-determination, their right to make their own decisions. I am here to support you by helping you identify all of your options, gain objectivity, make the choice that is most genuine for you, accept and gracefully move through the natural consequences as a result. I will offer you a judgment free space to explore and gain insight. My passion for therapy is derived from my own ability to overcome challenges and build resiliency from the support I received after I experienced loss at a young age. This was such a catalyst for an ever-growing curiosity and amazement of how others live through their own challenges. I aim to live my life authentically and believe in the good and personal strength in everyone. Coupled with my intense focus on professional growth, I am able to guide those that put their trust in me to their full potential. Beyond my work with my clients, I am passionate about leading and mentoring other therapists with the same calling.
