Typically I treat individuals and families who have experienced child abuse and neglect, childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, pregnancy & infant loss, and other types of trauma. I offer individual and group therapy. I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor offering supervision to pre-licensed and provisionally licensed therapists.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma, dissociative disorders, and pregnancy & infant loss. I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage, Family, & Individual Counseling and am a fully trained EMDR Therapist. I hold an advanced studies Certificate in Complex Trauma & Dissociation from The International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation. I am certified by Trauma Institute International as a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Sex Trafficking & Exploitation. I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor offering supervision to pre-licensed and provisionally licensed therapists.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My primary framework is attachment focused. As humans we are designed to enjoy connection with others. From before birth we are already making connections to significant people in our lives. We need secure loving relationships in order to function optimally. When safety is threatened & love is absent we become overwhelmed. Therapy provides an environment to share your story. It's more than a calming atmosphere. It's a nurturing relationship that allows you to feel seen, heard, & known. It may be your first safe connection & one that will hopefully allow you to feel valued & willing to seek other relationships. A space to discover your voice & grow in your capacity for joy. During sessions I may use various tools to help you gain a sense of stability & peace. But, more than anything I listen deeply. I join you where you are & celebrate all the ways you have courageously endured. It would be an honor to support you in your healing journey.
