About My Clients
Finding the right therapist can be exhausting. This one is too hard. That one is too soft. It sounds like something out of Goldilocks and the Three Bears doesn’t it? You may be browsing this profile because of a painful past. you may feel stuck, unable to move forward. You may feel like your emotions are more in control of you than you are of them. Or you may fluctuate between feeling disconnected and shut down to feeling completely on edge. If this sounds familiar, we may be the right fit.
My Background and Approach
Trauma-informed care has been at the heart of my work from the very beginning. My career in the mental health field started as a volunteer with a rape crisis center where I supported people during their most vulnerable moments. I went on to work for a suicide hotline and mobile crisis unit where I responded to people facing unbearable distress. Since then, I have provided therapy in both community mental health and private practice settings. Despite the environment, my focus remains clear; offer compassionate and effective care to those navigating trauma, stress, and the complexities of life. I draw from trauma-informed modalities such as DBT and EMDR and will tailor these approaches to fit your specific goals. My approach to therapy is collaborative, gentle, and respectful of your pace. Everyone is different, and I recognize that I am not the expert on your life, you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My therapeutic work is guided by two core beliefs. First, each of us has an innate wisdom. Deep down, everyone knows, in some capacity, what they need in order to heal and create meaningful change. Second, every thought, feeling, and behavior serves a purpose. Even when a habit or defense mechanism feels wildly unhelpful, it almost always originated as a way to protect you or help you survive a difficult situation. I help people look at these responses with curiosity and compassion.
